Hosting
Instant Language Switcher itself does not require a VPS when using a direct provider such as DeepL or Google. The plugin runs inside WordPress and calls the provider server-to-server from the WordPress backend.
Shared, Business and managed WordPress hosting can work, provided that:
- WordPress can make outbound HTTPS requests.
- WP-Cron can run, or an administrator can keep an Instant Languages admin screen open while large jobs process.
- The host permits normal WordPress AJAX and loopback requests for rendered-site discovery.
Provider requirements
You need at least one configured automatic translation provider if you want machine translation:
- DeepL API — preferred direct provider.
- Google Cloud Translation Basic v2.
- Auto — DeepL first, Google fallback.
- Custom / self-hosted endpoint — optional advanced mode.
You can also use the plugin without an automatic provider and enter translations manually.
